The print is from a series of 14 plates representing the festival organized in honor of the Archdukes Ferdinand Charles and Sigismund Francis of Austria, and the Archduchess Anne of Toscana in 1652 in Modena. The series illustrated the booklet, La gara delle stagioni, torneo a cavallo rappresentato in Modan[...]. The designer of the theater was probably Bartolomeo Avanzini.
