Comment
The etching may derive from a painting by Cantarini in the Collection Dalay, Parma. A study in reverse for the figure of St Elisabeth and St John is in the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan (inv. no. 94). Another study for the whole composition but in reverse is in the Gallerie dell'Accademia, Venice (inv. no. 701). Bartsch XIX.128.10 is a very close, perhaps somewhat later version of this etching (see inv. no. 9201). The plate is preserved in the Calcografia Nazionale, Rome (inv. no. 303).
