Comment
The print belongs to a series of 51 plates reproducing Roman triumphal arches. According to the preface, Bartoli prepared his prints by comparing the surviving monuments with the drawings of Francesco Giamberti da Sangallo (1405-80) in a codex from the Barberini Library. This probably refers to Giuliano da Sangallo's drawings in the Codex Barberini (Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Rome, Barb. lat. 4424).
