Comment
The figure is reversed from that in the foreground of Daniele da Volterra's fresco of 1538-43, representing Fabius Maximus Speaking in the Senate Against Scipio Africanus, in the Palazzo Massimo alle Colonne, Rome. The print's background derives from Albrecht Dürer's Knight, Death, and Devil (Bartsch VII.106.98).
