Comment
The composition was most probably invented by Giovanni Battista Franco himself, during his North Italian stay. It is characterized by Roman sculptural qualities and North Italian tonalities of light and colour. There is a drawing of a similar composition, attributed to Girolamo da Carpi, at Windsor Castle.
