Comment
According to Dillon in Venice 1981, this is an example of Battista Franco's academic manner in which he incoherently combines Michelangelesque and Raphaelesque citations. The etching most probably predates Franco's return to Venice, and belongs to his early works, from his first Roman stay in the 1530s. The plate had been republished more than once in Venice by Giacomo Franco.
