Comment
This print is close to Farinati's Cupid and a Dolphin, Bartsch XVI.167.7, dated 1568. On the basis of its Michalengelesque character, Albricci 1980 supposed that during one of his visits to Mantua, Farinati saw Michalengelo's sculpture of 1496, today lost, representing a sleeping Cupid in an antique manner, that was presented by Cesare Borgia to Isabella Gonzaga. For other possible Michelangelesque sources, see Albricci.
