Comment
Reproduces Ludovico Carracci's lateral painting of c. 1591-94 in the Cappella Gessi in Santa Maria della Pioggia, Bologna, already destroyed. According to Bohn in TIB, a drawing by Ludovico for the painting, today in the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris, inv. no. 83, was probably not the direct model for the print as it is not sufficiently complete. The print is related to Brizio's Circumcision of Christ, Birke in TIB 4003.045, also after the painting in the same chapel.
