Comment
Reproduces Michelangelo's drawing for Vittoria Colonna (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston), but was probably made after Giulio Bonasone's engraving of 1546 (Bartsch XV.127.64). Agostino Carracci changed the background landscape and the shape of the cross, and omitted the crown of thorns.
