Comment
Reproduces Paolo Veronese's altarpiece for the Giustiniani Chapel in San Francesco della Vigna, Venice, painted in the 1550s. Michael Bury in 2001 draws attention to the differences between print and painting, and suggests the print was commissioned from Agostino by Veronese himself, and modifications are due to the fact that both artists were concerned about the effectiveness of the engraved image. There is an early, unfinished proof in the British Museum, inv. no. U.2-75, for which see Bury 2001, no. 14.
