Comment
The titlepage and 33 engraved portraits included in the book are all Agostino Carracci's works, while the 8 other engravings and a woodcut portrait are generally not assigned to him. The first state of the titlepage was dated 1582, which was changed to 1585 on the second state. On this basis, Bohlin claimed that the project was begun in 1582 and finished in 1585, when the volume was finally published.
