Comment
After Francesco Primaticcio's drawing in the Louvre, inv. no. RF 567, made in preparation for a painting not part of the decoration of Fontainebleau but painted there. Davis pointed out that the drawing was executed on the same sheet as a study for the painting of 1541-44 in the Porte Dorée at Fontainebleau. He also drew attention to the puzzling presence of the back of a second animal in the background of the engraving.
