Comment
From a set of twelve prints after the frescoes executed by Francesco Primaticcio c.1539-42 in the Lower Gallery (Galerie Basse) at Fontainebleau (Zerner LD.25 to LD.36). The preparatory drawings for the paintings are all kept in the Louvre, except for Euterpe (Musée Bonnet, Bayonne) and for Erato (current location unknown). The drawing for Juno is in the Louvre, inv. no. 8558, see Paris 2004, no. 56. It was executed on the same sheet as its pendant, Venus (Louvre, inv. no. 8557), see Paris 2004, no. 57.
