Collection of Prints and Drawings

Zoltán Kárpáti joined the Department of Prints and Drawings in 2004. He is curator of Italian drawings and prints. He was the curator and author of the catalogue of the Parmigianino exhibition in Budapest in 2009. Together with Eszter Seres, he curated an exhibition of Raphael’s drawings and related prints in the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest in 2013, and was the co-author of the accompanying book on Raphael’s drawings in Budapest. Currently, besides curating a small exhibition about Leonardo da Vinci’s horse drawings and models for 2018, he is working on an international loan exhibition of drawings by Michelangelo and his contemporaries, which will be presented at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest in 2019. His publications may be downloaded at www.academia.edu.

Eszter Nagy participated in registering the watermarks of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Italian prints in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest as a university student. Since 2015 she has worked in the Institute of Art History of the Hungarian Academy of Science as an assistant research fellow. Her research focuses on manuscript illumination, with a special interest in the Corvinian Library. She is currently working on her PhD dissertation on liturgical manuscripts of King Matthias. Eszter Seres was in charge of Old Master Prints in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest between 2001 and 2014. She has worked as editor at the Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest since 2015. Together with Zoltán Kárpáti, she curated an exhibition of Raphael’s drawings and related prints in the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest in 2013, and was the co-author of the accompanying book on Raphael’s drawings in Budapest. She was co-curator of the Museum’s exhibitions Turn of the Century 1900: European Drawings and Prints in 2001, Northern Italian Renaissance Drawings in 2003, The Alchemy of Beauty: Parmigianino: Drawings and Prints and Turner and Italy in 2009, participated in many other shows of the Department, and contributed in the editorial work of various exhibition catalogues. She is working on her PhD dissertation on Roman printmaking in the circle of Raphael.
